About Me:
So far, I have taken three semesters of ceramics. The first things I made were coil pots, and then I progressed to throwing cylinders and bowls. In my second semester of ceramics, I experienced with makings lids and I created pineapple-like jars. For my third semester, I really enjoyed throwing vases. I was looking at images online and saw a hot-air balloon and decided that I was going to create it. I threw normal vases and flipped them over. Instead of trimming a foot on the bottom, I made them round. I then carved a triangular texture on all of my pieces to create a cohesive body of work. I used underglaze on each piece because I wanted them to be bright to go along with the hot-air balloon theme. I had trouble figuring out how I was going to display the hot-air balloons. I asked my dad for help and he welded three pieces of metal together for a structure so that I could hang my pieces. |
